Accidental Quilter

Love to quilt, but don't have time to maintain a website--so here's a quilt blog instead. I'll try to post photos of new quilts and friends and any new quilt tips I learn along the way!

Sarah had her wedding this weekend & although I've been working on this quilt since January it was nowhere near done. Finished 25 of the 50 center diagonal blocks, so wrapped them up with a card that said it would probably be another year before it was finished and included a hundred in cash for Honeymoon money:) I think they really liked the blocks, but, of course, wished that it were already finished. :) But I have to take rests from it, because there are over 40 pieces in each block and if I sew all day long with an hour off for lunch, I can get two--yes--two blocks done! And of course, I can't spend every day on this quilt! But she did pick out this pattern with the neutral batiks, so know they will love it! I'm trying to make all my nieces and nephews wedding quilts and this is number 4 out of 9.
So far, only one was done by the wedding--one nephew got his on their 3rd anniversary and one niece got hers 11/2 years after her wedding. I do try and keep them up to date and see the progress when I see them for holidays :)

This blog site is itself a UFO--I've taken it up again to see if it will work with my iPad. The pix is of Sarah 's wedding quilt -- which is far from finished :)

Sarah's wedding quilt :)

I began this quilt called Sunnyside at a quilt retreat last January in Panama city. The guest quilter was Pat Wys  and this design is from her neutral quilts book. My niece, Sarah, loves it and it will be her wedding quilt. :) of course, her wedding is September 21st & this quilt is far from done. Just finished 20 of these center blocks -- but there are 50& then all the border piecing-- just to have the top pieced :)  would you believe that each of these blocks has 40 pieces?  And you have to pop the center seams for the quarter squares and trim them out with the Tucker Trimmer! It takes about a half day to put together one block ! If I sew 2 blocks I'm exhausted and my husband has to cook dinner. One of my quilting pals even came over with her machine & we both made blocks all day long and we each made 2 ! Boy-- I am never doing this pattern again no matter how beautiful it may turn out :)

Natalie's Autumn Maple Leaf Quilt

Here's a cell phone photo snapped by a quilter of me standing in front of the quilt I just finished for my daughter Natalie's 26th birthday.
Here is a close up too.
This is at the Suwannee Quilt show which was a lot of fun. :)
